"40 days of dating" Project

The "40 days of dating" project is a project which using text to show the dating emotions in 40 days. In these 40 days, Jessica and Timothy have their own rules to make this project as real experience. Rules below:

In this project, they also expressed their feeling in interview form. Thus they not only show their emotions in texts, but also in talking way to make readers understand their feeling easier.

Day 36

My partner and I choose Day 36 as our favorite. The reason is this sign actually means "forever". It is a infinite symbol.  The text in this photo is "An end is a beginning." Also, Jessica said in the interview:" every ending is a new beginning." me and my partner both agrees this opinion. As you can see in the picture, this "forever" symbol has a fading effect. However, it's not disappearing, it is repeating like a loop. This shape really matches the text in it. In addition to this, we like the contrast of the color."black" vs "orange". With the font of this text, this picture ends up in a very strong effect. It catch your eye very quick and you cannot resist to read it.

"40 days of dating." I think, Actually, people nowadays are really interested in dating experiment. Despite the art form in this project, it also tells us the differences between male and female's thought. After reading their project interview, I felt like men and women are really from different planet. It make me feel Art works can even teach you something.

There is no doubt that the idea of the combination of texts and shapes is amazing. Interesting topic with interesting fonts of texts=great typography. Combining with shapes, even more unique. Every single picture of these 80 pictures has different color tone, different fonts and different shapes, you can never get bored of them and when you read them, you get the definition of every emotion.

Poster Card Project Process

 I really had fun in Poster Card Project. 

The new skills about PS and Illustrator are very very useful.

This picture is about the processing of one of my poster cards. I really like this one. Even I ended in Black and White version. But for this colorful one I used it for my computer wallpaper. 

I did not expect this effect when I was doing that poster card, however, surprising effect is the reason why I love this project.

The picture on the right was the processing of cutting my poster cards. Actually, I found cutting those little card was not as easy as I thought. I tried so hard to cut them in the exactly required size, but there always had little bit tiny wrong cut... no matter how many times I tried. :(

This was how messy my room was when I was working...For me, It's actually a good memory.

Criticism

After read "How to give and receive criticism" by Scott Berkun, I had a new thought about Criticism. In this article, he mentioned about how to give good critics. Good critics can really help others to improve their works. However, there is no measurement to define good or bad critics, you cannot say something is great because you love it or you just hate it then you not respect other's hard working. Critics should be objective. Also, Making Criticisms doesn't mean yours advise have to be received, because one problem solved may cause another problem, do not push others to accept your opinion. More importantly, the way you telling others your thoughts. The way you talk like "PNP"may make others accept your thinkings easier.

Actually, Receiving criticism is much harder than giving for sure. For designers, they love their ideas and hard to change them. However, you cannot deny sometimes changing can really improve your works. Thus, listening to critics and considering about their advise is important, no matter you take it or not.

For me, I think helping others to improve their works and receiving suggestions is very useful. After read this article, I did learn something about what I should do when I disagree critics- be a good listener and think more about own work.

Places

Personally, I love sunset. I don't really know why, but when I looked through my phone photos, I found most of them are sunset. I guess, that's because, every time I see sunset, I feel it. Peaceful, beautiful, enjoyable. The clouds are so soft that I want to touch them so bad. Also, sunset makes the busy city turns quiet like someone pressed "pause" botton.

Sunset is just like me-when I am alone at home. Even everything is quiet, I don't feel bored at all. Actually, sometimes, I really enjoy the peace. I am the kind of people that I love city life, but sometime, when I am alone, I really want to be quiet for a while.

Colors

I will love to define myself in warm color: Red, orange,yellow, pink...That is how people think about me. But no one can be exactly same inside and outside. So, inside of me, there are little bit cool colors. Just like the background color in my blog now. Before, I got orange and blue, very simple and clear. However, I found that inside of me sometimes is red, not blue all the time. Also, I am not always "orange" to face everyone. Thus, I changed my background. It is like watercolors mix together. You cannot say what color is that, but you can feel the most part is warm color and mix some cool colors around. I am sure that is the perfect background color to describe myself. 

From this two photos, you can also see the kind of feeling of colors I wrote above. I love the combination of warm and cool. I guess the reason why I like it is that, this is who I am.

Food

Dessert. This word make me excited. I love dessert, any of them has their own sense. Sometimes I even see them as art works. Because they are so beautiful (before I eat them ;() ). But this is not why I want to describe myself in this. The reason is they are sweet. All the time. This is how I want to be in my life- I want to be nice to everyone, I tell myself smile should always on my face. This is not stupid at all. There is a saying in China "people who love to smile will get good luck easier." For me, I believe it.

Texture

The texture of lace is so delicate and elegant. I like to make friends like this. Each of my friend has personality that I really admire. I found they all very elegant, thoughtful, and minded.This is what I want to be in my life. Just like lace.

 I believe every fabric or texture has their own language to tell you something, lace is the one I love to feel.

My Puppy

This is my puppy, her name is Dou Dou. I have been thinking for a long time which animal can define myself. Pig? Panda? or giraffe? But I love dogs the most, because they are so friendly and adorable.  However, I feel that the only animal in the world who can define me the best is my lovely puppy. She is just like another me. She is friendly of course, and she treated her friends as sisters.  Also, She never mad at me and very tolerate about every stupid things I did to her. I think live in this way, you will be much happier in your life.
