Final Project

For now, I have finished everything about final project
I used to feel so stressed out about final things, but now I really feel that everything was so interesting to experience and I had so much fun.
For my final, I faced challenges like I did not know how to connect metal sheets, or how to structure soft fabric. But with teacher and my classmates, my friends' help, I made it, I figured out every little difficulties.
I learnt more about fabric
Also, more about science fiction, of course.
For this final, I researched a lot about science fiction, and I started to be interested in the mystery world.

More importantly, from group work, I learnt a lot from my friends. I am so inspired by their thoughts and the way they were working. Being helped when you lost in your work by friends, was so warm.

Also, from the final project, I learnt how to simplize ideas to be "less is more", I really satisfied by how this garment turned out.

I really glad I tried to combine metal sheets and fabric together, this look is so unique and gives the exactly feeling I want for this science fiction theme.

For my garment, there are two ways to wear it:
With sleeves---to give more aggressive feeling, and be more protected for self.
No sleeves---powerful feeling but also a little elegant, just like the character Trinity in The Matrix

Process of my avatar armor

My concept, materials and techniques:

My avatar armor's inspiration is Neo from Matrix. I want to make a garment like his personality--two different  personality from day and night. So, I choose two different materials- metal sheets and leather.

Before I made this sleeve, I just thought that roll the leather can get effect like this, but the real world is not that easy.

So, I tried to use something harder to structure it. I put thick wires in the both edges of the leather , and sew them in the fabric. Because of the wire, the sleeves could finally stand up, and have strong structure.

It's like a little challenge for me , but it's great that I figure it out.

I used metal sheets to make an "armor-feeling" shoulders. It was not that easy, but luckily I learnt some techniques from "space" class. I used workshop machine to cut pieces of metal sheets, and drill holes on them. Last, I used screw to connect them together.
